Frequently Asked Questions

  • How do I know if there is enough charge on the battery?
    • The dial on the charger indicates voltage. Once the needle is in the green the car should start. When the dial reaches 13.5V – 14V the battery should be fully charged.
  • How long should I expect it to take to charge?
    • This is dependant on the size of the battery in your car. This charger adds 6A per hour. So to achieve 60A of additional charge would take 10 hours. For particularly flat batteries you should expect it to take upwards of 20 hours.
  • Should I see lights on the charger?
    • The instruction manual for this charger is of a universal format, this particular model does not light up from behind the on/off switch.
  • How do I know it’s working?
    • You will hear the charger working. During use the charger will also get warm.
  • What does the needle represent?
    • The dial represents the voltage level in the battery. A fully charged battery should read around 13.5 – 14V.
  • What if my needle doesn’t move?
    • Leave the charger running. The process of charging an empty battery can take a long time and you wouldn’t expect to see the needle move immediately.
